Day Three / by Cynthia Hunt

I believe it is clear that I am very interested in process. Living with these subjects, and taking the time to study their change, time and repetition is very important to me in this series. It is no longer about the value of this avocado relevant to my health, or how fantastic it tastes mashed up in a bowl of guacamole, simply how this is a part of nature working through the next stage of life. These subjects transition from "food" to "organism" - often becoming something else entirely. Today I am enjoying how the first Chayote is beginning to form an alien-like sac where the seed was cut in half. The skins in a lot of these subjects are really starting to wrinkle - which reminds me of the first time I showed these at Defibrillator Gallery as part of the Personal Project Show last winter - so much of the commentary brought it back to us - how we age, how we decay. Now I'm thinking about this winter, and how much my skin as decayed...Anyway, I'd love to hear your thoughts as these days pass - feel free to leave a comment or send an email.
